FAQ’s

What makes us different from other Car Valeters/Detailers?

Peacocke’s can offer a much higher standard of service to the customer, due to the fact that we have had many years of experience in the trade, from working with everyday vehicles up to high value supercars. Paul Peacocke has come from a background of working for a Ferrari/Maserati main dealer and also working with such marques as Lamborghini, Porsche and Bentley to name but a few. He therefore has a full understanding of what’s involved when it comes to presenting and maintaining these cars to their full potential.

What Equipment and Products are used?

Paul uses only the best products and equipment available on todays market. From a £2000 hot/cold pressure washer to the a full range of Autoglym trade products and chemicals (all environmentally approved). Other manufacturers products are used depending on the process being carried out and  he is always testing out new names to the market to make sure he is providing the best possible care for your car.

What am I getting for my money?

You will first of all be getting Paul’s undivided attention on your car and he will strive to make sure every aspect of your instructions are carried out to the best of his ability. Secondly, you will be getting the experience of working on hundreds of cars of all shapes, sizes and conditions, in the knowledge that your car will be returned to you in far better condition than you ever could have hoped. Paul is a trained and qualified Autoglym professional Valeter/Detailer with the certificates to prove. Lastly, we will aim to spend the time that is necessary, however long that may be, in order to make sure that you are completely satisfied with the work.

How long will it take?

Impossible to say as each case is different depending on the work needing carried out. However, once an initial inspection has been given then we will be able to give you a rough idea of the timescale involved.

Are you insured?

Yes, of course. Paul is fully insured to pick-up and deliver High Value cars and also has taken and passed 2 Advanced Driving tests (IAM/ROSPA). He has large experience of driving all makes of Supercars.

Ok then, why don’t I just take my car to a cheap Foam Wash instead?

Sadly after seeing first hand experience of what long term effects these supposedly “cheap” washes can do to an expensive car, We would never recommend anyone to choose this option. The chemicals used are often far too harsh for washing cars on a regular basis and can damage paintwork and trims beyond repair.

Put it this way…would you go out and buy a designer pair of Jeans and then wash them in a muddy puddle??? No….well it’s the same with your Car. Let us look after it properly.

Why should I choose Peacocke’s to Valet/Detail my vehicle?

Very few companies within Scotland can offer the same degree of professionalism and enthusiasm to the job as Peacocke’s. We have continually invested in the best quality equipment and chemicals, job-related training, gained advanced driving qualifications and expensive comprehensive insurance cover in order to encourage the trust and loyalty of our customers. Please note that we regard ourselves as professionals and have many years experience of working with all varieties of vehicle.

You’re quite expensive! How can you justify it?

The pricing is worked around a basic hourly rate similar to the likes of a local Garage or Main Dealer. It will usually include a small extra charge to cover any materials used during the work. To put it into perspective a Garage will charge about 2 to 3 times as much per hour for work which is in the most part no less skilled than ours. Because every vehicle and owner looks for different results to the next person, the time spent can vary from 4 to 8 hours to maybe 24 hours + for a paintwork correction detail. Therefore the pricing works better on a fixed menu structure. Larger vehicles such as 4x4’s may be subject to extra charge as there is a lot more area to cover and hence can take a bit longer. This allows us to spend the right amount of time required on your vehicle to produce great results without being rushed.

As for Justifying prices, without going overboard, it’s because we have proven ourselves to be the one of the best at what we do and constantly strive to exceed the customers expectations. The results speak for themselves and the initial cost can often be justified purely on the increase in value when it comes to re-sale or trading the vehicle in. Finally, you are getting the professional knowledge that can only come from years of experience and hard work, if you can give us your trust and respect then we can prove our hand and return outstanding results time after time.

My car is brand new, are there any benefits to having it professionally prepared by yourselves before I start using it?

Due to having experience working for and alongside various Car dealerships in the past we know that New vehicles aren’t always prepared to the standards that should be expected. This is can be due to time constraints, lack of facilities and a lack of enthusiasm. We have previously taken on brand new car’s straight from the dealership, removing any delivery plastics and coatings and presenting the vehicle to the customer the way that it should be, avoiding any initial mis-treatment from the dealer. This ensures that the paintwork and interior is given the correct protection right from the beginning of use and also makes the car easier to maintain for the owner. This can usually be arranged before you take delivery of the car.

Do you sell any of the products you work with?

With the exception of a few products which are available only to trade, all the products which are tested and proven in everyday use, are available to buy from the online shop or indeed at the studio. Helpful advice can be given on the correct use of these products if needed. Just ask.

Do you offer stone chip repairs or Alloy Wheel repair services?

Sadly, stone chips are an unavoidable everyday occurrence and will get to a stage that the only sensible solution is to have the affected panel re-sprayed by a good body-shop. If it’s just a case of a couple of stone-chips which are catching the eye then these can usually be effectively touched in so long as the correct colour match paint is provided. This will be done as part of a Valet/Detail session.

We do offer an in house alloy repair service, which is carried out by a trusted mobile contractor, this can be arranged as part of a Valet/Detail at your convenience. It must be booked in advance.

Why aren’t you a mobile service ?

Having been in the position of working in and relying on the Scottish Weather it was realised that working in Cold, Damp and Windy conditions isn’t conducive to good results. Therefore the decision was made early on to work from fixed premises as the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. We have realised that in order to achieve the high level of work standard that we would like for the customer, it is far better to work from a fixed unit with everything to hand. If need be we will arrange to have the customer picked up and driven to the premises in order for them to see the finished vehicle in a pleasant environment.

Do you collect and deliver cars?

If the customer needs their vehicle to be collected then this can be arranged. Depending on distance a small fee may be charged. We are fully covered with comprehensive road risks insurance for vehicles up to the value of £250k, if the value of your vehicle is above this, we will have to pre-arrange it with the insurance company.

My privacy is very important to me, can you be discreet?

Having dealt with a large amount of high value cars and all that goes with them, it has become second nature for us to respect other peoples privacy, whatever the reason. This can sometimes simply mean that the car is kept away from the prying eyes of the public while it is worked on. If a picture of your car is taken for promotional purposes then permission will be asked in advance and number plates can be blanked if required. We are professional not amateur.
